Hackers have targeted the Chinese-language website of the Tibetan government-in-exile, the spiritual head of which is the Dalai Lama.
According to experts at computer security company Kaspersky Lab, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has been infected with viruses.
It is said that the malicious software could potentially be used to spy on visitors.
The evidence suggests that the culprits carried out previous attacks on human rights groups in Asia.
Tibet.net is the official website of the CTA, which is based in northern India.
