Cloud computing is exciting to IT pros because the ability to reassign resources enables them to be more creative and focus on growth, a survey has revealed.
After cost savings and agility, this was the top benefit of the cloud computing model, according to half of over 500 IT pros polled by 360°IT.
A third said they were excited by the fact that cloud computing enabled them to use applications in the work environment that they were used to using at home.
Some 14 per cent believed they will gain competitive advantage over non cloud adopters and only 9 per cent said they were too worried about security risks to get excited by the cloud.
Instead of being wary of cloud computing, businesses should actively embrace its benefits, said Peter Hinssen, a technology trends expert who blogs for 360°IT.
Business should not be blocking this evolution, but instead showing users the way to the right applications in the cloud and how best to use them, he said.
