BT Broadband links cut
Regional News - North West UK
BT has apologised after tens of thousands of people lost broadband services at the weekend.
A technical failure in Manchester meant 73,000 customers - including banks and businesses - lost their high-speed internet connections and were unable to swap data.
The problem, which started intermittently on Saturday morning and was fixed by Sunday afternoon, hit people across the north of England and parts of Scotland and Wales.
BT blamed a fault in a network node in Manchester, which has now been replaced.
