Apple Gives Sneak Peak at New iPhone Features

Apple Gives Sneak Peak at New iPhone Features

Apple has today revealed some of the 100 new features that will be included in the iPhone operating system later this year.

Steve Jobs, Apple's Founder, showcased the long awaited additions to the smartphone. These included iAd, which will be used by third parties to place adverts within applications as well as the brand new multi-tasking capabilities which will soon be available on the device.

Jobs said the iPhone OS 4.0 update will be released first for the iPhone and iPod touch, and then the iPad, later this year.

Although Jobs revealed that Apple has sold a huge 50 million iPhones to date, iAd marks the first time that the company has explored the advertising market in this way, which will pit them directly against the Google search engine model.

It is expected that Apple will allow third party developers to gain up to 60 per cent of the ad revenue gained from iAd.

The multi tasking feature which will soon be available on the iPhone has been present on other smart phones for some time. However, Steve Jobs seems confident that this feature will be an excellent addition, stating "We weren't the first to this party but we're going to be the best," he said.
