The websites for AT&T and Apple have both experienced serious downtime due to high demand which has been generated from the iPhone 4.
As many eager buyers rushed to pre-order the new handsets both of the sites struggled with downtime with Apple visitors being asked to "check back later".
AT&T featured an auto response on their site which stated: "There was a problem with your request. We're sorry, but we are experiencing a system error that prevents us from completing your request."
While customers have been queuing outside Apple stores across the world, many have been told that they will have to wait until the website is back up and running before they can register for a pre-ordered handset.
One angry user on a San Francisco message board stated, "After 10 attempts I have given up! I can just imagine Steve jumping on and down on the phone with Apple's E-Commerce support!"
Other users have reported more serious issues, after being charged many times when attempting to place a single order while others are recounting tales of spending hours on the site trying to login and register their details
Neither Apple nor AT&T have provided any details of the issues which are being experienced by website users.
