R1Soft, a developer of Continuous Data Protection tools for Linux and Windows, today released a public beta version of its long-awaited Windows 2.0 Continuous Data Protection, the latest version of its backup and recovery solution for Windows Servers.
The company states that its data protection solution is the only software capable of a Continuous Data Protection style backup for both Windows and Linux servers.
It avers that the new Windows 2.0 CDP agent expands the scale and reach of data protection technologies for Windows servers by offering a variety of features, including Bare-Metal Restore, Open File backups, and backup windows reduced to minutes using CDP synchronization technology.
"While R1Soft happens to be the only Continuous Data Protection solution for Linux servers, the Windows market has long been familiar with CDP technology. Typically what we see with other Windows CDP software is that it requires extensive training and support from the vendor and in some products it is impossible to use without the customer investing in specialised Storage Area Network hardware.
Most IT environments are mixed-platform, and the market wants an easy to use high performance backup tool for both Windows and Linux," said David Wartell, Vice President, R1Soft division, BBS Technologies, Inc.
"Most IT administrators who try our CDP software for Linux say, 'Wow that was so easy. R1Soft reduced my Linux server backup window from 8 hours to 15 minutes. Can you do that for Windows too?"
