K web hosting provider Fasthosts (www.fasthosts.co.uk) experienced a technical issue this past weekend that caused some of its customers to go without email service for 45 minutes or longer.
The company said in a statement via email that on Friday it "experienced a technical issue with one of [its] Email Filers which caused a number of customer email accounts to be taken off-line for around 45 minutes".
Fasthosts said that after it located the problem and reactivated the affected accounts, the majority of the affected customers' emails accounts were back online.
However, less than 100 customers continued to go without email service, which was caused by a corrupt system file upon each account.
The company maintains that no email information has been lost as a result of the outage, and that the information has been restored and will soon be re-delivered to the affected customers.
In the statement, the company apologizes to the affected customers and recommends that any customers who are still experiencing email difficulties should contact its technical support team immediately.
Earlier this year, Fasthosts replaced its UK customer service team with offshore call centers in Romania and the Phillipines.
