Heavy UK Snow Boosts Broadband ISP Usage
The BBC has reported that demand for broadband services in the UK shot up by 20% above the norm yesterday as workers stranded because of heavy snow showers opted to stay in at home and surf the web.
Meanwhile others used their broadband as a means of working remotely. UK ISP PlusNet has just published a graph showing the usage for remote working style applications, which include VPN, Remote Desktop, SSH and VNC
The provider states that there was about double the normal amount of Remote Access traffic yesterday. The ISP also reported seeing slightly higher amounts of HTTP (website browsing activity) as well.
