Dedicated server provider Limestone Networks announced on Tuesday it is offering Immediate Server Replacement, a program that reduces potential downtime for dedicated server customers.
Immediate Server Replacement proactively monitors dedicated servers for responsiveness. If a server is unresponsive because of a hardware failure, a technician will immediately transfer the hard drive from the malfunctioning server to a separate, functioning server, significantly minimizing any possible downtime.
"We view Immediate Server Replacement as a value-add for our dedicated hosting customers," says Gary Kendall, Limestone Networks CEO. "The program provides an assurance to our customers that we will do everything possible to minimize or eliminate any downtime they might encounter. The goal of this program is to ultimately keep our customers online as much as humanly possible, while keeping it at a price that anyone can afford."
The program's proactive monitoring component works by sending pings to servers at various intervals—usually every few minutes. If a ping is not received back from a given server, a technician is alerted and sent out to investigate the problem. Dedicated servers from Limestone Networks start at $99.99 per month, offered in a variety of hardware configurations, including both AMD and Intel-based chipsets with Linux operating systems.
