Orange's parent company, France Telecom, has announced its audited financial results for 2007. Hidden deep within the group’s slideshow presentation we found a bar chart showing that broadband subscribers had increased from 1,063,000 in 2006 to 1,138,000 at the end of 2007.
That's interesting because France Telecom's previous third quarter results indicated that it had achieved a broadband total of 1,142,000 after having added 52,000 new subscribers, which would represent a small decrease when compared with the latest figure.
Meanwhile Orange hopes to pursue its UK LLU strategy and "optimise" the customer base, although we doubt they had a diminishing subscriber pool in mind. On the positive side, roughly 30% of Orange UK's broadband subscribers are now on its unbundled lines, compared with 16% in 2006.
