The Planet, now the world’s largest privately held dedicated hosting company, today announced the availability of the Dell PowerEdge 2900 based on Intel’s new Clovertown quad-core technology.
The new systems offer customers one of the most powerful servers in the industry. Available in the company’s six world-class data centers in both Houston and Dallas, the servers are the newest and most powerful in the company’s product portfolio.
Using the Clovertown quad-core technology and 10 disk drives, the Dell 2900 maximises processing performance. The large storage capacity and high-performance processing power are essential for multiple dynamic websites, high-transaction e-commerce sites, databases and massive multi-player gaming.
“Performance and storage are critical requirements for my business, particularly since we operate multiple, high-traffic websites with peak periods that require significant power and storage,” said Brian Dhatt, chief technology officer for Sugar Publishing. Dhatt’s company operates the Sugar Network, one of the most comprehensive online communities for women.
