Easyspace, a web hosting and domain name provider from the UK, today announced that it has added the .ME domain extension to its portfolio.
The company claims that the rollout of the .ME extension began back in March 2008, going through its Sunrise and Land Rush periods from May onwards before being officially launched for open registrations on Thursday 17th July on a first come first serve basis.
While the .ME domain has been assigned as a Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) for Montenegro, it's expected that its popularity will stretch to include use on personal websites and as a popular extension for marketing activities across the globe.
The company says that it is one of only a handful of UK based registrars already selling .ME domain names and, inline with the requirements of the .ME registry, domains can be registered for a minimum 2 year up to a maximum 10 year period.
"We've had a number of new extension launches in the recent past, including the likes of .mobi, and .eu, but most have come with some registration restrictions, such as location for .EU.
With .ME being open to absolutely everyone on a first come first serve, and with its obvious potential for personal users and marketing campaigns, I expect that its popularity will only grow in strength over the coming months." commented Errol Vanderhorst, Sales and Marketing Director for Easyspace.
