Internap launches managed services
Internet business solutions provider Internap Network Services announced on Tuesday it has launched its managed server services, a new addition to the company's suite of content delivery network solutions. The managed servers enable CDN customers to further rely on Internap's expertise for its Web-based businesses while ensuring faster time to market, says Internap.
As an addition to the company's CDN solutions, customers can lease servers on a contracted, month-to-month basis, providing them with a cheaper alternative to purchasing servers directly. The company says it offers customers technical expertise and resources, as well as provides comprehensive server set up and remote hands application installation support.
The servers integrate with the CDN to support rich streaming media applications for the Web. Internap maintains and manages the servers and installs the Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Linux operating systems upon which customers' applications are layered.
"Our managed servers give customers a high-quality data center with access to performance IP while helping us to expand our customer and revenue base," says Tim Sullivan, chief technology officer for Internap. "In conjunction with the new managed server offering, our expertise helps customers launch their businesses faster and get to market quicker at less initial capital expenditure."
Internap announced last month that Web hosting provider HostMySite adopted its flow control platform technology.
