Web hosting provider 1&1 Internet announced on Thursday that website improves interaction between consumers and businesses, and lack of a website could repel business away, according to the results of a recent survey it performed.
Thirty-six percent of survey respondents agreed that not having a website would lead them to shop elsewhere or select an alternative business, while 28 percent agreed that they would have "doubts or reservations buying from a business without a website."
In addition, 76 percent of respondents said it was easiest to contact a business via a phone number or email address provided online.
"Websites provide a link between consumers and their retail experiences," says Andreas Gauger, chairman of 1&1. "Providing an online service is essential to keep consumers happy and loyal."
