Unless you've been living under a rock then the national problems with flooding can't have escaped your attention. Over the weekend the situation became critical, taking out power, fresh water supplies and phone lines in areas across the country.
Naturally this has also impacted a number of ISP's, especially broadband providers, causing everything from complete server outages to increased customer support calls.
The offices of one ISP, Namesco, are now under water and without power or telecoms etc.:
Please be advised that if you wish to call us, that due to the severe flooding in Worcester, we currently have no power to our Head Office which is our Administrative and Call Centre operation.
We would urge you to contact us via the support ticketing section in your online control panel as we have made arrangements for enquiries to be dealt with.
Please only call if you have an urgent enquiry that cannot wait as we are operating our telephone lines with a skeleton staff compliment at present.
All telephone numbers are now only open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday until further notice.
Meanwhile another provider, Aquiss Internet, has setup a special floodline aimed at helping to get customers reconnected as soon as possible:
Due to the large amount of calls we are getting regarding loss of broadband as of the result of recent and ongoing floods, we have put on a special number (01746 708090) and recalled staff back in to help us record and get these customers back online as quickly as possible.
Typically customers should have patience with any affected provider; ultimately all are at the mercy of this weather, which looks set to continue for a little while yet. It’s anticipated that the problems could potentially get worse before they get better.
