Following on from a similar piece of news yesterday, a new YouGov survey has found that over half of British adults are concerned about the online collection and monitoring of their personal details.
Meanwhile 80% of Internet surfers were aware that websites collected some degree of information about them, though only 10% thought their e-mail address could be of use to others (fraudsters). Further to that, just 15% of people recognised that their passwords could be of use in commercial fraud.
Sadly a staggering 67% felt that the responsibility of their online privacy and security rested with someone else. Clearly people are concerned about online privacy, yet when it comes to actually keeping themselves safe and secure the results suddenly get quite murky.
