Web hosting provider Cable & Wireless announced on Monday it has won a EUR 400,000 contract to provide managed hosting for Gala Networks Europe at its Dublin, Ireland data center. The initial two year contract includes building, hosting, management and network connectivity for GNE's European online gaming platform.
GNE is part of the Japan-headquartered Gala Group, which offers a diverse service portfolio that includes Flyff, Space Cowboy Online, Rappelz, Corum Online and Upshift StrikeRacer. Through its community portal gPotato, gamers can access all of Gala's services and micro-currency, which can be used to buy in-game currency and virtual items for any of its games.
In looking to bring its core infrastructure closer to its European market base, GNE researched different top-tier European data centers until finally choosing Cable & Wireless for its ability to meet the highest levels of capacity, resilience, security and its proven track record, says the company. Cable & Wireless was also selected because it delivers direct connectivity to a high-speed global IP network, provides in-depth consultancy and management services and scalability to increase GNE's hosting footprint in Ireland as it grows its European business.
"Our Dublin hosting facility proved to be the best fit for GNE as we have the expertise to build, monitor and future-proof GNE's investment as it expands its international gaming base," says Fergal McKenna, sales manager for Cable & Wireless. "GNE's decision to choose Cable & Wireless is not only a vote of confidence in our capabilities, but also in Ireland as a hub for global Internet companies."
