Cirrus Tech adds Ubuntu to VPS & dedicated hosting
With the increasing popularity of the Ubuntu operating system, Cirrus Tech, a leading Canadian web host, is now offering Ubuntu on its VPS and Dedicated Server Hosting plans. Clients familiar with a particular Linux distribution will benefit from the extensive Linux OS offerings from Cirrus. Cirrus Tech clients can choose from a list of popular Linux Distributions including Fedora Core, CentOS, Debian, and now Ubuntu for their OS when placing an order.
Ubuntu is a stable Linux distribution that is a derivative of Debian. The popularity of Ubuntu stems from its focus on usability for the average user and security. “Clients have been asking about Ubuntu for some time now,” says Mani Aminian, Sales Manager at Cirrus. “Having concluded our testing of this OS on our systems, we’re happy to report that there are no issues running Ubuntu successfully on our servers and network.”
Cirrus announced Ubuntu’s availability on selected hosting plans starting this week. The specific versions of Ubuntu offered on Cirrus Tech’s Linux VPS plans and dedicated servers are 6.1, 7.1, and 8.04. However, at the time of this writing, Plesk is only available on VPS plans and dedicated servers running Ubuntu 6.1 or 7.1.
