Web hosting provider Webair announced on Thursday it is now offering its global content delivery network services, enabling users to deliver content with "unparalleled throughput and responsiveness."
The launch marks a growing trend in web hosting providers incorporating content delivery network services into their plans. Softlayer recently launched its own content delivery network product last month, as well as added several new features to the product.
The company says Webair CDN enables video to play smoothly without any stalling or choppiness, cue audio files instantly, as if they were on your hard drive and download software quickly to achieve high completion rates.
Webair CDN offers PUSH technology which provides customers with greater control over the content on the CDN and enables them to receive instant content updates without having to change meta tags or wait for cache timeouts.
And while traditional cache based CDN delete the customer's content after the allotted set time is reached, Webair CDN duplicates content and stores it globally and distributes it instantly. This allows for a faster, more robust type of CDN, says Webair.
Existing Webair customers can integrate CDN hosting into their websites by using the same control panel and FTP accounts they use for their current Webair hosting. By draging and droping files from one directory to another, customers can instantly publish content to servers globally.
The Webair CDN is available existing customers, as well as to those who open a Webair CDN account on the Webair website.
"New and potential clients benefit from Webair's 100 percent uptime service level agreement, global network and nearly instant replication," says Michael Christopher, Webair's CEO.
"Webair puts content where it needs to be from the moment it's uploaded, modified, or deleted. Clients deliver faster performance to more of their online customers globally. The best part is that media is distributed faster without clients ever having to move their servers or make complex changes."
Webair's high performance CDN is designed for the delivery of digital media, including videos, music, games and downloads, making it immediately available for direct global distribution to broadband and mobile audiences.
Last week, Webair announced it is offering its VSYS virtual hosting system, with virtual hosting plans starting at $5.95 per month.
