BT has appointed one of Ofcom's former Board Directors, Sean Williams, to be its new Managing Director of Retail Strategy. Williams will start in this new role from 15th September 2008, reporting directly to BT Retail CEO Gavin Patterson:
Gavin Patterson welcomed the appointment, "Sean had a big impact on the industry in his Ofcom days, and brings to BT a wealth of experience from both the private and public sector alongside a strong understanding of consumer, strategy and competition issues. I'm delighted to announce his appointment and believe it underlines further how the brightest and best want to come and work for BT."
Sean Williams said, "I am absolutely delighted to be joining BT Group and BT Retail. It's over a year since I was engaged in the communications sector at Ofcom. It is a fascinating, fast moving sector. I am very much looking forward to coming back to it as part of a great business and a great team."
It certainly doesn't hurt to have people on board that know what the industry regulatory is thinking.
