ServerPoint, a provider of shared, reseller, colocated, dedicated and VPS hosting solutions, yesterday announced that it has introduced a new blog hosting service, allowing customers to take advantage of blogging without the technical requirements of managing a blog application.
The new service, which is available on all existing shared hosting plans at no additional charge, offers customers a pre-installed, fully configured and optimized copy of WordPress, an open source blog application. With the customization, features such as comment spam protection and database caching, to prevent failure under heavy traffic, are included. Customers can easily select from over 50 free themes for their site, and can get their blog started in just minutes.
The blog hosting service is targeted primarily to business customers, who may choose to add blogs alongside their existing sites. ServerPoint plans to introduce additional hosted applications in the coming months.
"We are making a conscious effort to introduce new and exciting value-add features to our hosting services. By integrating a customized version of WordPress into our already optimized hosting environment, we can provide our customers with the power and control they demand from open source software, with the ease of use that traditional shared hosting provides," said Erik Johnson, ServerPoint CTO.
