BitTorrent tracking site the Pirate Bay extended its efforts into the image hosting arena this week with the launch of BayIMG, an image hosting site that is being promoted as free, and censorship free.
The site is likely intended to compete with the likes of Flickr which has recently seen some customer criticism for filtering or censoring the content it hosts.
The site's operators reference freedom of speech in its promotional material. According to the group, BayIMG will host any image that isn't illegal.
Given the pedigree, it is likely that the word "illegal" refers more specifically to things like child pornography, and less to copyrighted images.
