UK moving "in the right direction" with recycling
British people are becoming better at recycling according to the Coca-Cola Company.
The drinks firm, which has launched a recycling drive named the See Plastic Differently campaign says things are heading in the right direction when it comes to recycling bottles.
Campaign director Liz Lowe, said: "If you recycle just one plastic bottle, that saves enough energy to light a bulb for up to six hours.
"If you think about the billions of plastic bottles that are essentially going into landfill, because we let two-thirds of all our plastic bottles go into landfill every year...it's a massive waste."
TV personality Alex James, who is supporting the campaign added that the situation "is not all doom and gloom".
"Five years ago it was three thirds of all plastic going into landfill, so it's all going in the right direction," he said.
"It's really the more we can do as consumers, the better, because big businesses are all willing to be green and recycle but it needs our end of it to make it work."
