Property sellers advised to go green

Home sellers might want to consider making green improvements to their properties, according to one expert.

Measures such as double glazing, insulation and efficient heating are noted by surveyors, and with recommendations for green improvements now contained within home information packs (Hips), sellers would do well to go eco-friendly, Andrew Leech of the National Home Improvement Council said.

He added that loft insulation is a particularly important issue, with Hips stipulating that there is at least 11 inches of insulation in this area of the home.

"Loft insulation is a key issue, [as is] making sure that your hot water tank is lagged, making sure that your pipes are lagged so that if we do have a cold spell, you don't find that there are any broken ? or burst pipes, and there's the draught-proofing aspect," Mr Leech commented.

Hips have been rolled out to all properties today (December 10th).
