Work is expected to commence next month of the construction on a new eco-friendly housing development.
Lovell has been chosen to carry out the £2.5 million construction job that will see 34 new homes built in accordance with level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Geoff Redhead, Cosmopolitan Housing group chief executive, said: "The need for affordable housing, whether for rent or sale, has never been greater and we are pleased to be helping to meet this need at Rice Lane with the support of Wirral council and funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
"All the tenants for these properties will be nominated through Wirral council, and we are looking forward to welcoming them to their new homes."
Each home will be fitted with a smart meter so that residents can measure their energy consumption and keep their carbon emissions to a minimum.
In addition, the properties will have automatic water meters so that inspectors will not have to visit the resident's home to take a reading.
Construction is scheduled for completion in 2012.
