The Government has today announced their plan to harness the "full potential" of marine energy.
This move comes following the release of statistics from the Department of Energy and Climate change. They revealed that marine energy is capable of powering up to 15 million homes and in the process could create 16,000 jobs.
The minister of state for energy, Lord Hunt of Kings Heath has put forward recommendations to establish a group who could coordinate plans to marine renewables.
He stated: "The Action Plan sets out our visionfor what marine energy can do for the UK and what we need to do to make it happen."
The plans should ensure that enough funding is secured and focussed upon progression in this area.
Statistic suggest that ones these plans are put into action, carbon dioxide emissions could be reduced by as much as 70 million tonnes by 2050.
