Climate change gets its own Government department
Gordon Brown's cabinet reshuffle will see Ed Miliband, brother of former Environment Secretary David, heading up the newly-formed Department of Energy & Climate Change.
Environmental groups have given a cautious welcome to the creation of the department, which signals a new phase in the rise up the political agenda of climate change and issues of energy supply.
Green NGOs have previously accused Government of dithering on climate change, making all the right noises but failing to deliver effective action.
