Britons are the best energy savers in Europe, a recent study has suggested.
Led by EDF Energy and the Energy Futures Lab at Imperial College London, the report found that over 70 per cent of people in the UK have loft insulation and an additional 70 per cent have secondary or double glazing.
However, the UK was ranked below its European neighbours when it comes to sustainability.
The UK ranked sixth out of the ten European nations assessed, while Spain came out on top in this category.
Eva Eisenschimmel, chief operating officer at EDF Energy, suggested ways in which Britons could improve their energy efficiency.
"Make sure that you have a modern boiler and that your boiler is serviced," said Ms Eisenschimmel.
"Make choices about whether your home is powered by renewable energy sources and low carbon electricity, as well as choices around the management of appliances in your home - making sure that you don't waste electricity through leaving things switched on when they're no longer used or on stand-by overnight."
