We take investment in the community very seriously and aim to continually give back to the causes that we are passionate about, be that through sponsorship schemes or fundraising days.
This year is officially UKFast's 'Year of Giving' and, with its Random Acts of Kindness project, the firm has dedicated at least £100,000 to charity throughout 2014. The firm has already donated £10,000 to the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation and provided the use of the UKFast Campus gym facilities free for the athletes' training, as well as sponsoring several charity events and websites.
Throughout the year, UKFast will select causes from across the world to give back to.
When our CEO Lawrence Jones heard the story of Harvey, an autistic boy whose sensory room was burnt down by arsonists on Christmas Day, he jumped at the chance to save the family's festive spirit.
Stepping in on Boxing Day and rallying UKFast's in-house builders, the team set to work. After eight days, Harvey - who has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome - had a brand new sensory room with toys, colourful decor, flashing and moving lights, and a tropical fish tank - all of which will help Harvey's condition.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones has a love of music, stemming from his earliest days in business. This spilled over into his current professional life, as he used the industry leading skills of UKFast to design and host the Manchester Camerata website.
Since May 2011 Lawrence has sat on the Board of Directors of the Camerata, and continues to build a great partnership with the organisation. We are now also thrilled to have the Camerata using our own auditorium as a practice space!
Bringing us science with a spin, we are delighted to sponsor one of the world's most popular science podcasts, the Naked Scientists. Reaching up to six million listeners across England each week and spreading their fanbase across the internet too, the Naked Scientists have one core goal: "To help people enjoy science as much as we do and, at the same time, to have fun."
This group of media-savvy physicians and researchers use radio, live lectures, and the internet to promote science to the general public, to great acclaim.
Education and investing in the future of the internet is a key priority for UKFast, so we jumped at the chance to be involved in the pilot scheme for the national ICT diploma. The diploma, for 14-18 year olds, offers a vocational accreditation in IT worth 4 GCSEs and 2 A Levels.
UKFast is a key supporter of developing stronger IT education in schools across Greater Manchester. We hold workshops, seminars and data centre tours, as well as setting the students challenges to engage them with IT in a tangible, interactive and exciting way. Plus, with our recent £4.5m investment into a dedicated UKFast training facility, we're perfectly equipped to continue encouraging young people to gain a real IT education.
UKFast was born in Manchester and has grown to become one of the city's leading technology firms, so it is only fair that we give back to our local community. As a family business, the natural choice was to support Cash for Kids.
The charity works with local radio station Key 103 to raise a pool of funds for children in the most need who need it most across Greater Manchester, with events including Mission Christmas and Superhero Day.
Superhero Day 2015 saw the region raise more than £104,000 for Beechwood Cancer Care's specialist children's service which provides support for children dealing with serious illness or bereavement of family members.
As a main sponsor of the annual Mission Christmas appeal, we get into the festive spirit each year to make sure that every child in Manchester gets a gift from Santa. Christmas 2014 saw us help to raise more than £1.4m worth of toys for the 1 in 3 children in the region who would otherwise not receive a Christmas gift.

Every year we have dedicated fundraising days for Wear it Pink, Children in Need, Comic Relief, and many others, and every year the costumes get better and more money is raised. The team are always up for a fitness challenge too, which is why we match donations or pay the entry fee for many a 10K run, Tough Mudder challenge or sponsored cycle.
