Chuckling Goat was launched in 2012 from a small farm in South Wales. It sells consumables and skincare containing kefir, a probiotic cultivated from goat’s milk.
The business took off when founder Shann Jones discovered that her son’s chronic eczema and bronchial problems could be healed by a course of the kefir, so they began to make products to sell to the public.
Three years in, the company was growing steadily, but their hosting provider couldn’t keep up with even gradual progress.
Frustrated and fed up, the team at Chuckling Goat went online and found a list of the top five hosting providers in the UK.
They worried that hosting outside of the UK would cause problems when international providers were unavailable due to time differences.
UKFast provided Chuckling Goat with an eCloud® Public solution. Attracted by the amount of autonomy the elastic hosting provided, they are able to increase or reduce RAM, VCPU and storage with a simple login to MyUKFast. This came in extremely handy, as when the site experienced huge increases in traffic, they were able to scale eCloud® all the way up easily.
Following an influx in television coverage and a large increase in revenue, they decided to move from the cloud to a dedicated server – with plenty of space for accelerated traffic spikes.
