Work Experience @UKFast

Please be aware that this is an unpaid one week school work experience week. The UKFast work experience programme is mainly aimed at school and college students aged 16-18 years old and university students.

UKFast is the number 1 company to work for in Manchester City Centre. We are at the forefront of the web hosting industry and strive to remain there through continuous education, training, development, innovation and creation of new technology.

By joining UKFast on work experience you will be part of a multi award winning family owned business working with our technical, front of house and events team. On your placement you will be:

  • Working on live project briefs and server environments
  • Supporting the day to day running of the campus
  • Helping to set up events for clients and external visitors to the business
  • Shadowing our technical teams across both Windows and Linux
  • Have the opportunity to shadow other areas of the technical teams

Being passionate about what you do is a pre-requisite for all people at UKFast. In addition the successful candidate will:

  • Be hugely passionate about technology, software and the internet.
  • Be a team player who is enthusiastic with a creative can do attitude.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.
  • Have the ability to multi-task, prioritise and be able to work on your own initiative.
  • Excellent customer service skills through work experience programmes or part-time employment.
  • Goal orientated individual with a desire and commitment to personal development and their academic studies.
  • Have experience of using administrative features of a Windows or Linux Operating Systems
  • Have some knowledge of cloud computing.
  • Have strong knowledge of a range of different applications.
  • Having a passion for setting up and managing networks.
  • Have some experience of programming languages (inc. computer science) or web technologies.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with a 1 hour lunch. Note: placements may vary dependent on the school, college or course studied.
