The opportunity…

UKFast is looking for an IT Project Delivery Engineer in the Public Sector team.

Your primary role will be the technical delivery of solutions to our prestigious Public Sector customers, ensuring all technical aspects of a build have been considered, planned, and delivered to a pre-agreed quality and timeline set by the Project Manager. This involves being an integral part of the successful handover and deployment of all client solutions.

If a customer gets in touch to report any snagging of a solution, you’ll be on hand to support and make any improvements required.  

As you will interact with both customers and multiple teams across UKFast, this role is well-aligned to someone who is a natural team player. Someone who is organized, efficient, and enjoys a variety of technical challenges.  

There is excellent scope of development and learning new skills in this role, whether you want to develop to a senior level or move into people management – this role will be the ideal starting point for an ambitious IT professional.

 

What you will do

  • Deliver all assigned Public Sector Orders to specification.
  • Ensure all orders in the Public Sector Project queue are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for Project Manager.
  • Liaise with the Customer, Solutions Architects, Sales and Accounts Managers to clarify requirements and user needs at the request of the Project Manager.
  • Review and comment on Requirements Specifications.
  • Attend customer project meetings if required by the Project Manager.
  • Attend handover calls with the customer, Account Manager, and Service Manager.
  • Complete orders and ensure all relevant documents have been produced and updated.
  • Ensure all relevant details and updates are attached to the order.
  • Maintain and update VM templates that are used for Launch (eCloud and Defence Cloud).

 

What you will bring

  • Strong knowledge in VMware vCenter and ESXi 6.x and 7.x.
  • Strong knowledge in Windows Server (2016/2019) administration and rollout. Alternatively, strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RHEL 7/8, Ubuntu, CentOS) providing you are willing to learn Windows Server administration.
  • Knowledge in network equipment configuration with an emphasis on firewall access lists (ideally Cisco ASA) and LAN switch configuration.
  • Knowledge of SAN technologies.
  • Cisco UCS – desirable, not essential.
  • Knowledge in AWS and Azure - desirable, not essential.
