The role 

2020 is turning into a transformational year for our business with a large investment from the leading mid-market private equity firm Inflexion. Many exciting projects are either already underway or soon will be. Integral to our plans is the complete rebuild of the UKFast website, including the re-full imagining of the UKFast brand proposition.   

As a result we currently have a truly exciting opportunity for a senior UX Designer to join and help lead our brand new Web team - playing a pivotal role in delivering a world class website that will set new standards in our industry around impact, conversion, information, and customer interaction efficiency.   

As part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team product team the Head of UX Design will be responsible for transforming UKFast’s online presence starting with a brand new website giving the right person the opportunity to have a truly transformative impact on our business. 

We are looking for a candidate that thrives in a lean, collaborative and fast paced environment – a design leader who obsesses about the customer and goes above and beyond to ensure their designs and useful, usable and delightful. Continuous improvement and innovation through team collaboration should be second nature to you as should your constant search to improve how you and we do things. 

Alongside the Product Director the Head of UX Design will establish agile ways of working, utilizing research and user testing to ensure products meet the needs of our customers. You will implement hypothesis driven development prioritizing features based on business potential and test hypotheses, to ensure the right investment decisions are made. Working with the team you will develop launch plans to ensure products are delivered to programme and agreed specification.

  •  Able to take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something highly useful and valuable for our customers
  • Capable of creating design flows and experiences that are incredibly clean, clear, and elegant, while delivering against the underlying business commercial objectives
  • Confident engaging in high-level strategic and commercial decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
  • Collaborative and able to partner with Product Managers, engineers, researchers and content strategists to oversee user experience
  • Able to take and implement a systematic view of design, with core reusable components, styles, etc. to drive consistency and efficiency

What you will bring

  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a senior UX role producing visual, interface or interaction design work within a fast-paced agile environments.
  • 2 Years of strategic product thinking and vision experience
  • Outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and cross-function team working skills
  • A very solid understanding of a wide range of relevant technologies, tools, and methods, and experience of selecting and working with different technologies
  • Some experience with design-oriented front-end coding
  • Ideally, some experience of B2B design and experience of technical and non-technical audiences. Although this is not essential.
  • A passion for customers, design-led thinking, creating very measurable commercial impact at pace.
  • A strong sense of fun.
