Following various rumours at the start of the week, computer giant Apple have today officially announced the release for an official Apple application store.
Apple have launched the free application for its own mobile operating system.
The addition, which has been named "Apple Store" is a free app which allows customers to "buy Apple products and accessories, read customer reviews, find an Apple Retail Store, stay up to date with in-store events, and make Personal Shopping, Genius Bar, or One to One appointments."
Critics have stated that the release date has been perfectly timed to coincide with the opening of pre-orders for the latest Apple gadget, the iPhone 4.
The new app allows customers to reserve this latest iPhone offering conveniently on their current mobile device. After ordering, Apple has promised that the "ready to use" device will be shipped to customers by the 24th June for free.
Customer feedback on the application is currently relatively positive. A navigation bar at the bottom of the program allows customers to view available products and the app also features a tab which provides access to some in-store options.
