Just because you can’t see something doesn’t always mean it isn’t there. Tech is the driving force behind so many things but – kinda like a figure skater or magician – the real trick is to use it to completely immerse your audience, often making them forget that there’s anything going on behind the scenes at all. This was the mammoth task that Chester Zoo faced with its new Islands exhibition.
In today’s video Martin King, head of IT at Chester Zoo, tells us about the challenges of building a reliable IT infrastructure in an immersive zoo setting. But, not only has Martin managed to keep the zoo’s cables, cameras and speakers hidden in order to create an incredible experience for visitors, his team has managed to think of inventive ways of keeping them out of the paws of some of South East Asia’s craftiest animals!
