For most of us, Christmas means excitement, food, presents and yeah maybe a little stress (has everyone else already finished their shopping? Everyone??). For some kids though, it’s a different story. A staggering one in three children in Manchester won’t receive a present this year. It’s absolutely unthinkable. So, as you might remember from pictures of our chilly little faces last year, at UKFast we like to get involved. We’re helping out with Key 103’s Mission Christmas campaign once again to bring some festive joy to the kids that need it most – and the good news is you can get involved too!
Mission Christmas is Key 103’s festive campaign for the charity Cash for Kids – an organisation that raises money to help disadvantaged and disabled children across Manchester. We’re the official sponsor once again and also a drop-off point for toys!
The idea is that all the friendly souls who want to give a bit of extra festive joy this Christmas can drop off new, unwrapped toys for kids between 0-18 years at the UKFast Campus or at any one of the drop-off points around the city. We’ll then take the toys to the warehouse, match them to the kids that need them, and the little Christmas helpers make sure the kids get them.
We’ll be in the warehouse beavering away tomorrow and Thursday, so if you can get your toys to us by Thursday morning we’d really appreciate it. On Monday we’ll also have a big reveal at ridiculous o’clock on the screen outside the UKFast Campus on Princess Parkway, so you can drive by and see the result of the amazing work you’ve done!
Last year we helped to raise £1.6m and this year we want to beat that – but we can’t do it without the support of the Manchester community!
Here’s a little look behind the scenes from last year.
