Last night we were honoured to win the Creative Media and Digital Skills for Business Award, recognising the incredible work that our training and education team do. It was an amazing evening and such a wonderful feeling, but the journey isn’t over yet!
About two years ago we embarked on a quest to change education in business. We hired two former school teachers and committed £4.5m to creating the UKFast University.
This year, we saw our first apprentice qualify and become a fully-fledged member of the team. We’ve taken on even more apprentices and graduates – apprentices will soon make up 10% of our workforce – and we have one of the most qualified Linux teams in the country.
Last night, we were delighted to have our efforts recognised with the Creative, Media and Digital Skills for Business Award.
Recognising and celebrating the achievements of those involved with youth educations – from schools and training providers, to businesses themselves – the awards cover every aspect on skills development.
It’s a huge achievement for us. It can be scary embarking on such a big project and making such a commitment to training and education, so getting a nod of encouragement will only spur us on even further.
In 2014 we were involved with more than 100 training- and education-related events. We were accredited to provide Linux certifications and we were in contact with more than 22,000 students across 23 schools in the North West.
This year, we’re working on growing even further.
We’re also looking to add to our training team, so if you’re a teacher looking for a new challenge let us know! Thanks once again to the judging panel and huge congratulations to all of those shortlisted and the winners last night!
