Over at the Windows Server Divison Team WebLog, news that a couple of new addons for IIS have been released. Take advantage of these new technologies and the latest Windows Server operating system and see your site soar up the rankings!
The Search Engine Optimization Toolkit (which is officially released to web) helps web admins get their sites further up the rnaking lists with search providers such as bing and google.
“The IIS SEO Toolkit includes the Site Analysis module, the Robots Exclusion module, and the Sitemaps and Site Indexes module, which let you perform detailed analysis and offer recommendations and editing tools for managing your Robots and Sitemaps files.”
The URL Rewrite Module (which is still in release candidate but available to try out) helps web admins get shorter URL’s out of their applications and hence improving user experiences.
“URL Rewriter for IIS 7.0 enables Web administrators to create powerful rules to implement URLs that are easier for users to remember and easier for search engines to find. By using rule templates, rewrite maps and other functionality integrated into IIS Manager, administrators can easily set up rules to define URL rewriting behavior based on HTTP headers and server variables, or to perform redirects, send custom responses, or stop HTTP requests based on the logic expressed in the rewrite rules.”
Whilst I am at it – there is a wealth of educational resource about PHP on IIS over at iis.net which has been recently updated, take a look here.
Of course, all of these applications are available to be downloaded and configured automatically via the Web Platform Installer tool – so there’s no excuses!
