UKFast to podcast the CIPR Northern Conference

Article date: Tue, 04 Jul 2006 17:37 GMT

The UKFast mobile podcasting studio The theme for this year's Chartered Institute of Public Relations Northern Conference is principles and ethics in PR. To capture this message for those who can't attend, the North's fastest growing Internet service provider, UKFast is creating a podcast for the CIPR covering highlights and key topics from the event. Jonathan Bowers, communications manager at UKFast believes podcasting is perfect for the CIPR. “Public Relations practitioners are now recognising the need to harness new technologies in order to promote their clients. Podcasting is very potent new tool and the conference podcast is a chance to see first hand how exciting the form can be.” The conference includes a workshop session on Delivering the New PR, which focuses on blogging and podcasting as methods to add to the PR arsenal. Stuart Bruce one of the workshop leaders sees them as crucial for this year's conference. "A good campaign is about telling a story and podcasting is an ideal way to engage with people on a personal level," says Bruce. “Podcasting works best as a conversational and authentic medium,” explains Bowers. “It's about offering your gift to the online community without expecting anything back in return. It is a company's chance to present their personality and build brand popularity, not an opportunity to sell its product. In this way, it is both ethical and principled." The CIPR conference is being held at the Carriageworks Theatre in Millennium Square, Leeds on Thursday 6th July 2006. The podcast will be available for download from the UKFast website at as well as For more information about UKFast and podcasting please contact Jonathan Bowers (0870 421 1585)
