Article date: Fri, 12 Nov 2010 15:38 GMT

IT Employer of the Year

UKFast was last night named the IT Employer of the Year at the IT Industry Awards 2010.

The judges said, "The UKFast approach to training, development and innovation has enabled it to deliver outstanding performance to clients while maintaining dedicated, motivated and talented staff."

The hosting provider has expanded from a 2 person operation in 1999 to the UKs fastest hosting network, employing over 100 people.

With its own training centre in the foothills of Snowdon, MD Lawrence Jones likes to ensure that he is surrounded by a motivated, passionate and determined team.

Jones states, "We are delighted to have been named IT Employer of the Year, especially with such tough competition in this category. We're very proud of the fantastic team we have created here and are thrilled that we can bring this trophy home to them."

With over 3,000 clients on the UKFast network, the company has diversified into many new areas over the last twelve months without losing focus on its team members. Most recently the hosting provider has announced that it is now 100% carbon neutral and has launched a new arm of the business - UKFast Energy which is to provide clean energy from hydro-power.

Jones encourages his team to aim high with enviable team incentives, including track days at Donington Park, the opportunity to win Breitling watches and even a trip to Richard Branson's Ski Lodge in Verbier.

David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said: "This has been another exceptional year for the Awards, with winners drawn from a wide range of industries, once again highlighting that IT is truly embedded in our society and brings tremendous benefits to all aspects of life from industry, healthcare through to entertainment and security.

As the Chartered Institute for IT, we offer our congratulations to all those who took part and in particular, the medallists and winners. To qualify as a finalist is terrific; to win is an absolutely fantastic achievement in these highly contested Awards."

The hosting company is no stranger to winning awards for employee practices - being named as the most fun and friendly place to work earlier this year by the Great Places to Work Institute as well as gracing the pages of the Sunday Times list of Best Companies to Work For.

The awards ceremony, held at Battersea Park Events Arena in London, attracted hundreds of business leaders and celebrated industry excellence across the UK.
