UKFast Steps Out for The Christie

Article date: Tue, 07 Apr 2015 14:11 GMT

Stepping Out for the ChristieCloud provider UKFast is teaming up with Manchester's glamorous retailers to turn fashion to fundraising. Hosted by Key 103's Chelsea Norris and GMTV's Jenny Powell, Stepping Out for the Christie brings together local celebrities and big fashion names to help fund one of Europe's largest cancer treatment centres. Launched by Bae.boutique founder Joanne Brookes, the event is the first to bring back a tried and tested formula by the former PR and marketing executive. Brookes said: "Over the past 10 years, I have done many fundraising events like this with my good friend Rachel Mamelok. Together, we're bringing back our fashion show, this time to raise much-needed funds for The Christie, where Rachel is currently undergoing chemotherapy. "With UKFast on board, we're excited to make this event bigger and better than ever before!" Mamelok is being treated for an extremely rare form of breast cancer at the world-renowned hospital. Thanks to funding from donations and events like these, the oncologist treating her had recently been on a conference in America where he learned a new treatment regime for this previously poorly treated and researched form of the disease. Brookes added: "Without the funding for this training, Rachel would not have had the opportunity of this type of treatment. Fundraising and donations ensure that The Christie's medical team have the latest knowledge and skills to treat even the rarest forms of cancer." Although fashion is certainly a departure for hi-tech hosting provider UKFast, CEO Lawrence Jones MBE says that is was an easy choice to help out. Jones said: "We have been supporting the fashion brands through our ecommerce platforms for more than 15 years, so it's lovely to be able to be working together on such a worthwhile project. Businesses can do a great deal more to help charities, not just with donations, but also with the time and resources. When you combine these three elements like we are doing with Joanne, you can really make a difference." "When Joanne contacted me about this event, I knew that we had to be involved. Not only are we sponsoring, we're contributing the skills of the whole team in whichever way we can to make this event a huge success and raise as much money as we can for a cause close to all of our hearts. She deserves all the help we can give her." The Stepping Out for The Christie event will take place at the Hallmark Hotel, Handforth, on May 14th. Tickets are available from baeboutique/collection/events, priced at £25, with limited £50 VIP tickets also available.
