Manchester-based UKFast has been declared as the fastest growing Internet business in the North West in the latest Deloitte Fast 50 list.
The highly respected list is drawn up by Deloitte, one of the big four accountancy and audit firms, to show the country's quickest-growing technology companies.
This is the second consecutive year that UKFast's strong annual growth has earned it a place in the Fast 50. Delivering an impressive growth rate of 690%, UKFast ranked as the top Internet service business in its region and the second fastest in the North West overall.
"It's fantastic to be recognised in The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 again this year. And looking at the list, it is great to see the spread of successful companies growing so rapidly in the current economic climate," comments Lawrence Jones, UKFast MD.
"There is a strong market out there for companies offering services with a focus on quality and good customer service," Jones adds.
The Deloitte Technology Fast 50, one of the UK's foremost technology award programmes, is a ranking of the country's 50 fastest-growing technology companies based on percentage growth over five years. The Fast 50 programme honours business growth, technological innovation and UK entrepreneurial spirit.
Despite the recession, it has been remarkable that in 2009 almost twice as many businesses recorded growth above 2,000%. The Internet sector's representation also increased from 18 to 23 in the list of 50, reflecting the rude health of this industry.
UKFast is the UK's leading hosting provider. The company operates the fastest network in the UK and serves clients that range from major banks through SMEs to well known corporations such as BP, UKTV and Experian. Privately owned, UKFast was established in 1999 and now has 100 team members and three data centres in the North West of England. As main sponsors of the Sale Sharks Premiership Rugby Club, UKFast is also a keen community supporter.
