Sharks smash Wasps to reach the final
Article date: Mon, 15 May 2006 17:12 GMT
The Sale Sharks smashed Wasps' three-year grip on the Premiership crown as they outmuscled the defending champions to reach the play-off final on 27 May.
The only try of the game came from a dazzling 50 yards solo run by Jason Robinson. UKFast's Charlie Hodgson converted the try and scored 5 penalties within the game to keep the Wasps at bay and win 22 - 12.
Hodgson showed his strength after an early crunch from 19 stone Simon Shaw, resulted in rib damage. Despite extensive treatment, the Sale number 10 refused to submit and continued the game to the delight of the 10,000 + fans.
The crowd were also treated to some giant-like antics from French hero Sebastian Chabal, who lifted up Lawrence Dallaglio and dumped the former England captain on his backside.
Charlie now has just under two weeks to recover before the final at Twickenham on the 27th May. We hope you will join us in wishing him a speedy recovery and send all the boys the best of luck as they take on Leicester Tigers for the Premiership crown.
