Director of the Year Awards

It was smiles all round at Manchester-based hosting firm UKFast as founder and chief executive Lawrence Jones scooped a coveted award at the Institute of Directors' (IoD) fifth annual Director of the Year Awards.

The ceremony, held at the Lancaster London Hotel on 24th October, saw a selection of winners from the regional IoD Director of the Year Awards come together in celebration of leadership excellence.

Ian Dormer, chairman of the Institute of Directors, said: "We hold these awards every year because we believe in the value of leadership. In big corporates, small businesses, the public sector and charities, the different between success and failure is leadership.

"The quality and range of entrants showcase the very best of the UK's talented business leaders. Every day they dedicate themselves to navigating their organisation through economic challenges and complex regulations, finding room for the creativity and innovation needed to take their business to the next level"

UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones, who was named Mid-Market Director of the Year, said: "This has been the cherry on the top of a rollercoaster year for UKFast and, whilst it might sound cheesy, I can say hand on heart that this award is down to the team. Any director who says they can successfully grow a business without the support of great people is fibbing.

"I'm also delighted to see another North West business leader on the list of winners, especially one that has such a focus on employee ownership. And no Welshman worth his salt would miss an opportunity to congratulate James Taylor, who won overall Director of the Year and Young Director of the Year!"

Jones recently added to his entrepreneurial portfolio with the acquisition of a hotel in exclusive Swiss resort, Verbier. The Manchester businessman completed the sale to create a second outbound retreat for the UKFast team.
