Jones Strengthens Board at Fast-Growing Cloud Firm

Article date: Tue, 14 Apr 2015 17:14 GMT

Michael Hogan, new finance director at UKFast

Fast growing cloud and data centre provider UKFast has made a second high profile appointment in as many months, adding former Fasthosts Chief Financial Officer to its board.

Michael Hogan joins the fast-growing UKFast team as Financial Director alongside Nicola Frost, Head of Legal, who joined the hosting provider last month ahead of its ambitious growth plans.

Having been the CFO for two technology companies - Fasthosts and Livedrive, a Dropbox-style business - Hogan has more than 15 years' experience in the industry with fast-growing, entrepreneurial businesses.

Hogan said: "UKFast is an industry leader with some serious growth potential. During my time at Fasthosts they were always the innovator in the market and their customer service was a cut above the rest. It's this formidable reputation for customer focus that attracted me to UKFast.

"Lawrence has a clear vision and I am excited to play a part in the future development of the company."

Hogan trained at KPMG in Manchester and has worked for well-known brands including McVities and Tiscali.

UKFast CEO, Lawrence Jones MBE, said: "I first met Michael when he made an offer to acquire UKFast back in 2009. He impressed me and I kept my eye on his progress.

"A rather successful entrepreneur and friend of mine said, 'Keep in touch with people, they grow just like you do. If you get the opportunity to employ them in the future, great. If not, you end up with friends in high places'."

"Hogan adds significant fire power to the UKFast board. He has a wealth of experience working with recurring revenue business models and I am excited about the improvements he can make.

"This year has started well and the business feels well placed to accelerate, our run rate is already at £33.5m. We've seen steady and continued growth year on year and in the past 5 years we have invested £23m in data centres, buildings and tech. Investing in the foundations is crucial but it's now time to recruit some talent who have experience in the direction in which we are heading."

UKFast recently announced record financials for 2014 with revenue hitting £28.9m and profit topping £11m.
