First Magento Developer Conference Announced in Manchester

Article date: Wed, 01 Oct 2014 14:12 GMT

Mage Titans ConferenceManchester's developer community is planting itself firmly on the map with the announcement of the first Magento conference dedicated to developers in the North, marking a further shift from the traditionally London-centric industry. The independent trade association, Manchester Digital, is working in partnership with several of the North's Magento specialists to bring together developers from all over the region to the inaugural Mage Titans Conference, sponsored by hosting firm UKFast. Magento - the widely-used ecommerce website platform - has a strong community and collaboration surrounding it, something that Lawrence Jones, CEO of event sponsor UKFast, sees as essential to the success of a North West tech hub. He said: "London has been the centre of Magento and developer communities for too long, which is why we are so proud to be involved in an event that places the North - and all of its tech talent - front and centre. "Whilst there is so much creativity and collaboration outside of London, we don't often hear about it. Events like Mage Titans nurture this community and encourage it to thrive; we are really excited for the event and hope it's the first of many to come." Jon Woodall from eCommerce agency and event partner, Space 48 echoed Jones's comments, adding: "Mage Titans is the first developer-only conference to come to the North and signifies just how strong the digital sector in the region has become. In order to maintain and progress the talent in the community, it is important that we keep investing into the talent pool and giving developers access to best practice and expert knowledge. "Mage Titans brings together leading Magento experts under one roof and will be a unique opportunity to hear from industry thought leaders and talk to other like-minded peers to gain insight that will help to improve skills for personal and business benefit." Katie Gallagher, business development director at organisers Manchester Digital, believes events like these help, commenting: "In the fast-paced tech sector we face a constant race to acquire the necessary skills to keep up with the latest technologies and specialisms. The North West has one of the largest open source communities in the UK and the popularity of platforms such as Magento is growing rapidly." The inaugural Mage Titans will be held on 1 November 2014 at the Comedy Store, Manchester and features speakers from across the globe. For more details and tickets visit the Mage Titans website.
