UKFast Internet Awards 2007

UKFast Internet awards 2007 imageThe UKFast Internet Awards held every year are a chance for UKFast clients put their company forward as the best on the Network.

Award Categories are:

  • Best Web Functionality
  • Best Community Site
  • Best E-commerce Site
  • Internet Innovator

The winners of the 2007 awards were announced in December, a full list of these can be found below.

2007 Network Award Winners:

Best Web Design:

Winner - Square Enix for their UK site: www.square-enix.com/eu/en

Square Enix - makers of Final FantasyWith a huge audience in the youth and young adult sector, this site has a lot to live up to. Our judges decided that it's ability to communicate with its target audience whilst still offering a strong flavour of the product and a wealth of information was its USP.

A special Commendation goes to Clicking Mad for www.clickingmad.com This web specialist practices what it preaches by creating a site full of energy and information, showing attention to detail and an ability to be clear and concise. With so much in its favour Clicking Mad was only just nudged into second place. This is the second time in two years that ClickingMad has appeared in our roll of honour, having taken a runner up place in the Web Functionality category last year.

Best Web Functionality:

Winner - VRM Swansea for www.plates4less.co.uk

VRM Swansea's plates4less.comVRM Swansea places usability high on the list with this site. It's a specialised product so visitors are browsing with a view to purchase. The site employs clear navigation and a database of useful suggestions to help you find what you are looking for and place an order before you have time to consider other options.

A special Commendation goes to Fitness Footwear for www.fitnessfootwear.com This Herts. based company offers another quite specific product. What impressed our judges was the variety of ways it displays training shoes while always managing to maintain a navigation that allows you to feel orientated at all times.

Best Community Site:

Winner - North West Jazz Works for www.nwjazzworks.org

North West Jazz WorksThis organisation has taken a niche music form and reached a regional audience in a way not seen before online. The response in urban areas has been incredible since its launch early in 2006. It's a busy site with everything from a database and diary to features for its community including an mp3 player allowing visitors to hear the bands.

The special Commendation in this category goes to Anthony Eskinazi for www.parkatmyhouse.com This new community site signed up 400 members in its first 2 weeks. This is down to the concept. Who wouldn't want to make money out of their driveway! Anthony is building the site as an information resource based on localities searched for so it has real growth potential.

Best E-Commerce Site:

Winner - Sainsbury's for www.sainsburyscontactlenses.co.uk

Sainsbury's contact lenses websiteThe big high street players are branching out into all kinds of online products and Sainsbury's has continued its winning web formula across its micro sites. The contact lenses site in particular works very well with the search engines and distils the purchasing process down to an incredibly simple level.

A special Commendation goes to Caunce O'Hara for www.caunceohara.co.uk Having gone live in the summer with a full e-commerce solution, this site has grown hugely over the judging period. The Top 100 Broker had increased its revenue by 50% selling an unprecedented number of policies online. The industry association calls it a 'Model of excellence' and we have to agree.

Internet Innovator:

Winner- Eazyfone for www.envirofone.com

Eazyfone's envirofone.comEazyfone founder Pete Petrondas struck gold with this mobile phone recycling scheme. Petrondas realised that the charitable incentive was not mainstream enough and envirofone has proved that you can offer a little bit more to the consumer whilst still helping to save the planet. They've already moved out into Europe and 2007 should see them reaching even further a field.

The runner up in this category is 24dash for www.24dash.com The news and information portal has enjoyed exponentially growth in the last year and is developing an online radio offering within the next year. With reporters and correspondents across the UK, it's already one of the UK's top information portals for the public sector and expanding rapidly.
