UKFast Linux Bulletin - Is Firefox About to Burn Out?
As usual, this month we bring you all the latest Linux and open-source news, starting with the news that Firefox has been overtaken by Chrome as the second most used internet browser, behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Could the dip in market share combined with the looming threat of losing 80% of their revenue signal the end of Firefox's open-source browsing?
We also hear that the government will be trialling open-source software and take a look at the latest Ubuntu release from Canonical.

In Linux news this month, seven new companies have joined the Linux Foundation just in time for the first ever LinuxCon Europe. We also update you on the three new validated configurations announced for Oracle Linux customers and give you the lowdown on the latest version of Foresight Linux, released this week after more than ten months in development.
UKFast Linux Bulletin - Android Controls 31% of US Smartphone Market
This month our feature story focuses on the news that the Linux based Android OS is now leading the US Smartphone market. The company is still lagging behind Apple in the apps market however, which is perhaps unsurprising considering the criticism it has recently received surrounding the security of its applications.
Also this month, Red Hat has defended its source code distribution alterations while the Linux Foundation welcomes Panasonic as its latest Gold member.

This month's feature story looks at the recent and long-awaited release of Debian 6.0. Nicknamed "Squeeze", the release comes almost two years to the day after the release of Debian 5.0, causing industry insiders to criticise the speed of Debian's release cycle.
In other news, two new members have joined the Linux Foundation, taking sign-ups this year to eight. And the London Stock Exchange has announced that it is to merge with the TMX Group Inc - its equivalent in Canada. How the merge will affect the IT plans of the newly-formed group and the systems used is still under debate.
