Web firm extends Sharks' contract - April 06MANCHESTER Internet company UKFast.net has extended its sponsorship of the region's top rugby union club, Sale Sharks by a further three years.The new deal will take the duration of the partnership between the company and the club to over 10 years, and is worth over £500,000. Booth Street-based UKFast is owned by rugby-mad Lawrence Jones, a former teenage prospect himself for Wales. Advertisement your story continues below His company employs 26 people and turns over more than £1.5m. UKFAST has been technical sponsor of the Sharks since 2000. Website It launched the club's website 18 months and built an e-commerce facility into it, allowing the online sale of match tickets. The new deal adds the UKFast logo to the Sharks shirt collar and dovetails with the company's personal sponsorship of Sharks' fly-half Charlie Hodgson. Lawrence Jones said: "I'm delighted to increase the relationship with not only the club, but Charlie Hodgson as an individual player. "There's an obvious synergy between us. Speed, reliability and teamwork have put us both on the top of our league tables. We look forward to playing a part in keeping Sale where they deserve to be - on top." Niels de Vos, chief executive of the Sharks: added: "UKFast has significantly transformed our online presence, helping us to develop as a business off the field while the team has gone from strength to strength on the pitch. UKFast is a crucial part of the club's future and I look forward to three more years at the top of our game." Away from sport, UKFast hosts websites and e-commerce facilities for companies such as Sainsbury's. |
