UK ISP UKFast has issued a warning over Valentines Day phishing scams involving e-mails offering cheap flowers, chocolates and last minute holidays.

The company said that web portal Lycos Europe reported a 500% increase in the number of phishing e-mails that it was catching, with attacks against new targets growing at a rate of 30% per month according to the Anti-Phishing Working group.

The Manchester-based company said that with Valentines Day online spending increasing by 40% year-on-year, users needed to be aware of the potential dangers of phishing scams and to take extra care when entering personal information online.
